I updated mine with names, last night I just threw a temp one up before I went to bed. Suggestions on how to make it better are welcome, I don't really like the labeling atm.

I had that idea as well, but I think my corp name explains it all really. Updated mine a bit, still wrong in some areas but possible attempts at new stuff. And yes, I realize there are a few spelling errors.

Edited by: Righteous Fury on 22/02/2005 22:42:04 For any aspiring mapmakers, I uploaded PSD and JPEG versions of a starmap screenshot for you to start with. Resolution is at 800 x 925, was taken at 1280 x 1024 but I cut off the extra dead space on the sides and removed the non-accessible regions.

:squint: I swear, the goat ASKED me to do it! I'm in the process of adding the numbers to see how it'll look, not sure if I'm going to keep it as the warzones are pretty self-explanitory.
Originally by: LNX Flocki One suggestion: make the legend smaller (it doesn't change anyway) and the relations box larger and a tad more detailed. Like splitting NAP and allied and maybe add a small box in front of the alliance names with their individual color code (that'd look cool i guess).
Split up the box, added some more detailed information (not 100% correct I'm sure, it'll do until the winner is decided). I'd add the color codes, but some of them are quite similar due to the fact that I was having trouble with colors of the same shade looking nearly the same when 25% visible.
Originally by: Xeriuz 3.actual map as in the stars themselfs can be brighter, abit unclear.
Upped the contrast, stars should be a bit more visible now. To be honest I'm not really interested in making sure that specific systems are claimed properly, knowing which region belongs to who is more important. I've tried to be as accurate as possible, but I know I've given some people a bit more (or less) in terms of area just from trying to fit everything, so I apologize for that.
I'll keep updating as I think of stuff to add, I think my entry is nearly complete though.

Please if you map make, you must read the foums on a daily basis to keep up and research with alliance movements, naps and wars. Example. If you read the post on the link below you would see that most of you are not current with the events.
Official Post on Region Control
No offense, but this thread is to determine who should continue the mapmaking process. Style is what matters here, not content. Once a winner is decided upon, then accuracy will be the priority.
Thanks ben

Bored. Updated my map again to reflect G/Imp shared space (hypocritical, why yes I am) and added warzone icons. I'd like feedback on the icons, to be honest I don't think they're all that helpful but several people have suggested them, thoughts? My opinion is that they just clutter the map that's already filled with names and colors.

Thanks for the comments guys, some replies:
DBP - I'm working on the colors, I just had a conversation about this with my corpmates last night (a few of which who are colorblind, news to me). I'll try to make the colors distinct as possible by not using similar shades next to each other. I'd use the same colors at Quarath, but I want to have my own style and not just a clone.
Szumo Manos - I realize I gave you a bit too much space heh, twas late when I was trying to finish off the controlled territories with HF/CVA/COE. It was like 4 am, and the slight difference between the star layout of my map and quaraths was driving me insane haha. I'll fix that error, but I'm not going to give you regional claims in empire. While yes, I realize you guys are roleplayers (and do it very well I may add), the real interest of this map is 0.0 claimed territories. Perhaps in the future I'll make an RPer map showing Ushra'Khan, CVA, and everyone else.
Missus Doubtfire - To be honest I have no idea where Supremacy and 3FA decide their borders end, I just made a rough guess as to where their territory is. if someone could perhaps take a screenshot of Syndicate and just circle where who goes it would help me immensely (no need for quality, ms paint lines would work). I'm a southern fruit, I don't venture out west or north much I'll take a look at quaraths map again and fix them as best I can though.
Elve - Haha you're quite right. I didn't put any real thought into it when I was doing the colors, but now I realize you're correct. A lot of my colors are similar to Quarath's, so perhaps it was his idea of color coding.
Back to Photoshop, I'll post an update later today.

Okay I've updated with new colors, rearranged Supremacy/3FA space, and cut CVA's size. Since I'm not colorblind, I would appreciate some pointers as to where the colors are too similar and end up looking the same. Obviously I'm never going to get it so that nobody has a problem viewing the map, so I'm keeping the thick borderlines as a support.

Edited by: Righteous Fury on 23/02/2005 21:18:22 DBP - Oh I can take a lot of whining, as long as I get to whine back . A corpmate of mine said the exact samething about FOE and Exodus, are you colorblind to blue/green as well? I'll try to differentiate the colors, I was more worried about PA and Exodus looking the same.
Max - I know Shinra and Xetic are nearly the same color, but they're gonna have to stay that way. The gangbang of controlled territories in what used to be CA makes it a pain to use a broad spectrum of colors and still try to compensate for color-blindness. They're far enough away from each other so that its not real confusing, unless the big SHINRA text is hiding.

I updated my colors a bit, Shinra/Xetic shouldn't look the same and I tried to change the similarity between Exodus and FOE if DBP or someone could verify that it looks okay.
I also added FOE vs XF in the war list, but no warzone yet.

Updates: I was bored, so I changed the size of CVA and HF, hopefully they should be correct now. Slight color change as well for those two. I also changed the regional map a bit, added in the chokepoints. My opinion on chokepoints is that on the alliance map they cause a bit more confusion, and are better left on the regional map. I'd be happy to take suggestions otherwise, as its your opinion that counts, not mine. Other suggestions for what to put on the regional map (or to leave it as just regions) are helpful too.
